HIDDEN LIFE
In Iran, people live two different lives. It is a kind of schizophrenic society.
Social life is divided into private life and public life. Almost everyone still lives by conservative social rules. The rules have always been defined by the Islamic government and society. Thus, one is forced to play two or more roles. Everyone’s life looks different in at least one part at any time and in any area. The role one plays depends on the social group or class in which one grew up.
It is also clear that everywhere in the world there is a separation between public and private life. However, in Iran, social and legal repression is much harsher.
The exhibition ” Hidden Life ” looks at the relationship between public and private space as they are lived in Iran. The focus is on how young people deal with this very separation.
